1. "(Because) that is when you became...who you are." Unfortunately, English is unable to convey the shades of meaning found in this sentence's original Japanese. Kouji actually says "(Itsu) ki ni natta kara da...omae no koto ga." The difficult word word here is "ki" which does not have one simple translation into English. My kanji dictionary defines "ki" as "spirit, mind, heart, intention, mood, temperment, disposition, attention, air, atmosphere". Very precise, ne?? I did not want to chose just one of those possible translations, so I decided to encompass them all with simply "you". I mean, you are the sum of all those translations and more. It seems like an excellent compromise to me. ^^
